Press Release: York Data Services Delivers Award-winning Communications

Local York company York Data Services (YDS) have been recognised as a top level supplier of IT support and telecommunications by Information Communications Technology Active (ICT Active). YDS provide the IT support and information communications technology for the buildings on York Science Park where YDS are also based. ICT Active awarded York Science Park the highest recognition of a Leading Edge accreditation as a result of the high standard of telecommunication services and support facilities which YDS provide to the Science Park.

ICT Active is the national standard for the provision of information communications technology in office buildings. The ICT Active Leading Edge award recognises offices which have the high standard of telecommunications infrastructure that enables businesses to move in straightaway. This instant office set up appeals to businesses as it reduces any downtime experienced during a move.

YDS Chief Technology Officer David Kirkham said, "We are pleased to have helped the Science Park win such an important accreditation as ICT Active Leading Edge status. Being recognised with an ICT Active Leading Edge accreditation is a great endorsement to the high level of IT support and Internet services we have been delivering to the park over the past six years."

YDS recognised the need for companies to have a smooth relocation and have provided the highest standard in IT support and telecommunications to the Science Park and other Yorkshire-based business parks for many years. As a result of this understanding, York Science Park actually won the award without needing to improve the services they offer as YDS already provided the highest level of information communications technology to buildings on the Science Park.

Liz Wallis, Managing Director of ICT Active, said, "We are delighted that York Science Park IT Centre has become ICT Active. The Centre is a flagship building in the region and the north as a leading science park facility. Now the IT Centre is also an ICT Active flagship building in York, achieving Leading Edge status, which is the highest ICT Active accreditation available."

Being recognised as a Leading Edge property means that thanks to York Data Services, the York Science Park IT Centre offers all the facilities required for a company to move straight in and goes beyond this to offer the highest specification of telecommunication services.

York Science Park Marketing Co-ordinator Anne-Marie Daniel said, "Winning the ICT Active Leading Edge award will draw new tenants to the Science Park and highlight to businesses that we offer a plug and play service. It emphasises the high standards the buildings at the Science Park have and shows that we are the leading Science Park in the North."
